This weekend our juniors will head up to the northern tip of the state to take on the best competitors in New South Wales at the NSW State Age Championships at Kingscliff Beach.

All eyes will be on our pocket rocket U/9 Female compatriots, Jacinta Davidson-Bunch and Naia Hughes-Nichols who will be out to repeat the success they had at last year's championships. Both girls have been electric on the sprint track this season, always ensuring a red, white and blue double. Jacinta will be looking to go one better than last year and claim gold in the U/9 Female Flags and with the way she has been flying over the sand, I am confident we will be seeing a golden smile come Friday afternoon.

Another medal prospect will be Tim Burgmann in the U/13 Male Sprint. Tim will look to add to the bronze medal he won last year and our 2011/2012 Illawarra Branch Representative has eyes on the major prize this weekend and fingers crossed, we will be seeing him up on the podium again this Saturday afternoon.

We are always well represented in the relay finals and we have a number of teams that will definitely be in with a strong chance to stake their claim for gold. Our U/14 Female Beach Relay team, consisting of Jasmine Riley, Ella Saberton, Brooke Burke and Nicola Bell, will be looking to take the title from their arch rivals Cronulla this season after being pipped last year. They will be under pressure to repeat their success, which is understood all to well by our U/11 Female Beach Relay team of Phoebe Saberton, Michaela Scutts, Bethany Anger and Shannon Scutts. These girls were defending champions last season, but unfortunately were unable to repeat their success. However, it has only made them hungrier and they will be looking to reclaim their title despite an injury scare to their lightning fast second runner Michaela Scutts. You can be sure she will give it everything she has!

One event that Helensburgh/Stanwell Park has always figured in, is the All Age Beach Relay. After a run of 7 years in the final where we picked up a gold medal and a bronze, we returned to these heights last season with our team finishing 4th. This year, the bulk of the teams returns with a few new members and they are looking quick. This season, the team consists of Ryan Burke, Jacinta Davidson-Bunch, Joshua Pepper, Dakota Curkoski, Brent Manning, Tim Burgmann and our team captain Reece Mcalpine. This is one of our strongest teams in years and I am sure we will be seeing them in the mix come finals day this Saturday afternoon.

Other competitors that will be right in the mix this weekend include Ryan Burke (U/8 Male Sprint), Joshua Pepper (U/10 Male Board), Reece McAlpine (U/14 Male Flags), Dakota Curkoski (U/11 Male Sprint) and our marvellously coached March Past team who always represent us proudly!

We wish our team all the best and hopefully they can bring home some bling!!!

GO STANNY!!!
