Welcome to the 202/22 Nippers season. We are delighted to be able to get back to the beach soon with our first nippers session scheduled for Sunday 7 November!

We wanted to thank you for your patience and support over the past few months while we have waited for the COVID-19 situation to unfold. Last week, the NSW Government announced the roadmap for easing restrictions once NSW has hit the 80% double vaccination target and beyond.

What We Know

  • When NSW hits the 80% double vaccinated target (expected late October), restrictions for community sport will be eased to 1 person per 4sqm inside and 1 person per 2sqm outside, with a maximum of 200 people being able to attend a COVID Safe event. All participants, parents and SLS officials (16+) must be double vaccinated and a COVID Safety Plan must be in place.
  • From 1 December, restrictions will be eased further to 1 person per 2sqm inside and outside, with no cap on participation. A COVID Safe plan will be required for outdoor events with more than 1,000 people. At this point in time, under the Public Health Order, all activities will be open to all members. SLSNSW continues to seek expert guidance from various sources with respect to any future requirement for mandatory vaccination requirements for members in various roles within Surf Life Saving, and will also be consulting the membership on this issue in the coming weeks. We encourage you to participate in this all member survey when you receive it.

As per last season, only qualified members are able to support the delivery of Nippers. Trained Age Managers and Water Safety team members will help us ensure that nippers are kept safe both in the water and on the beach.

Fees and payments

Nippers fees are $55* per child or discounted as part of a family membership package - for more details of membership rates, family packages and payment options please check our website.

You can pay your membership fees by Visa or Mastercard online as part of the registration process, or alternately you can pay directly to the club via bank transfer using your Surname and Fees as a reference -  BSB: 062164, Account: 00905331, Account Name: Helensburgh-Stanwell Park SLSC

Please ensure you are registered and paid by 30 October 2021. You and your children will need to be registered and paid before commencing any nippers activities - including the proficiency swim on 31 October.

* Please note that registration fees are back to our regular membership rate - last year was discounted courtesy of a Covid19 Support Package provided by Surf Life Saving NSW to all NSW surf clubs.

NSW Active Kids Vouchers

You can use NSW Active Kids vouchers to pay your child's registration as a $100 package including a $45 credit for club uniform or carnival fees.

Please have your voucher number ready before commencing your registration process. If you are unsure how to apply your active kids voucher to a membership payment please see this step by step guide

You will need to enter the following:

  • Voucher barcode: code on the voucher you get from NSW Government
  • Voucher pin: your child's date of birth (DDMM)
  • Membership fee: enter $100 as the membership fee amount to obtain the membership package - this will ensure you have a $45 credit available for the nominated child to contribute to carnival fees or for reimbursement after purchase of club clothing. Please ensure you do this part correctly - if you enter less than $100 you will forfeit the rest of your Active Kids voucher.

If this online process gets all too hard or you are unsure, there is also the option to process and pay for your membership in full and then email the active kids voucher to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for manual redemption.

Season Schedule

For the full season program - Click Here. Key dates to note:

  • 31 October - Proficiency Swims at Coalcliff Rockpool
  • 7 November - First Nippers Session!

Proficiency Swims - Sunday 31 October

All nippers must complete the preliminary skills evaluation associated with their age group before they can participate in water activities - for details of what your child will have to do please see the attached preliminary skills evaluation document.

To minimise gathering at the pool and streamline the experience as much as possible, proficiency swims will be completed in three time slots by family name:

  •  8:30 am A to H
  •  9:30 am I to P
  • 10:30 am Q to Z

Please make every effort to attend in your timeslot and on this day.

Uniforms

This year uniforms and club merchandise will be ordered online directly with our new provider - look forward to some great new swimwear designs including long-sleeve options as well as towels and hoodies! Keep an eye on your emails for details of how to pre-order. We will still have a stock of caps and hi-vis vests at the club. Please note that uniforms from previous seasons are still fine to wear :-)

Staying safe

Once again, we are asking all parents to support us to meet Government requirements and stay COVID Safe by:

  • Registering online
  • Staying at home if you or your child have any COVID-19 symptoms or are unwell
  • Ensuring that you check in using the QR code when attending Nippers to assist with contact tracing
  • Maintaining physical distancing while spectating, both in and around the clubhouse and on the beach
  • Bringing your own sunscreen, water bottles and towels to avoid sharing
  • Where possible, showering and getting dressed at home

All nippers activities will be conducted with covid safety in mind. This will include having a roped-off area on the beach that is accessed by nippers, coaches, age managers and a covid marshall only.

If you are interested in helping out as one of our covid marshalls this year, please reach out to me on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 0402 326 960. It is a great way to be able to get closer to the action! There is a short training course to complete that takes about 10 minutes. It would be great to share this role around a few people this year.

Duty roster

We are investigating some exciting new options for post nippers session treats! Keep an eye out on your email closer to the season start for your rostered date to assist.

"WE CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU!"
