Yeeeeeeeeeeeww....what a season.
In the months leading up to the 19/20 Nippers season, the Junior Activities Committee came up with a number of ideas to encourage the Nippers in developing a sense of belonging at the club, as well as to invest in training and education that would stay with all members through this amazing roller coaster journey called life..
The Surf Coaches and Water Safety Team took on the challenge of improving the children’s confidence in the water and developing skills in the swim and board..
We could not have done this without three main things. The kids themselves were awesome in their attitude of getting in and having a go and the confidence of every junior member has increased massively. A prime example was the under 10’s on the last day, old life members were in tears on the beach seeing what these youngsters were achieving. Kids you are all quite simply amazing..
Secondly, to the parents. It is so nice to be part of a club that has a group of parents and carers that encourage their children and are also supportive of the clubs initiatives and activities. We thank you for putting your trust in the water safety team for allowing us to take out your nippers on one of the hardest surf beaches on the east coast..
Thirdly to the Age Managers aka Cat Herders. You are incredible. Organising, encouraging and entertaining the Nippers on a weekly basis with very little fuss.. on behalf of the Water Team, thank you.
It has been a fantastic year, our board paddlers and swimmers have started to place at Carnivals. Our youngsters are taking on the surf with many a wave of the day caught by all. One Sunday a young lad caught an awesome wave then turned to me and said, “that’s the first wave I have ever caught by myself” - Awesome moment.
The Stanny Paddle Club (Board training) has been a great part of this year. Regularly having 16-18 youngsters out in the water on Thursday arvo’s and Sunday mornings..
Congratulations to all award recipients, all well deserved
I cannot praise the Nippers highly enough for their achievements this year. Next year will be just as awesome so please keep an eye out for training schedules etc..
