Bulli Visit
Sunday, 2 June 2013 was a day for the true Winter Swimmers. With torrential rain for much of the morning, the Bulli Sea Lions annual visit went ahead as planned.
What a day, extreme weather conditions, pelting rain, winds gusts up to 40km but the winter swimmers did not hesitate to conduct the annual relay against the Bulli Sea Lions for the Jimmy Johns Memorial Trophy. Once again beaten by fraudulent rules, despite our own Rules and Regulations committee putting forward a totally and unbiased set of rules to be observed in future meetings.
At least we can say of Bulli that the original “Jimmy Johns Trophy” has been returned to the Sea Eels with the correct winners listed. We thank the Sea Lions for their attendance despite their predicted 30 members but forgot to include another 20 of the Dorrington family for their annual family reunion.
During the proceedings we had a visit by Lorraine who is the grandmother of Logan Jackson, a member of the surf club at age of 14 who has had a brain tumor removed, this has to date been successful but comes with many complications. The Sea Eels have donated $500 towards the family so that may they rent accommodation near the Randwick hospital.
We also had a visit by the ABC TV crew to follow up on Vivienne Moxham Hall endeavor to contest the SCWSA championships, despite my request to have them film our donation to the Jackson family, they were not interested.
The Sea Eels have been left with a hefty bar bill, but we sent them home happy and will retaliate next year too make them think twice about what a good day it was.
Thanks to all our members who provided salads and deserts and worked tirelessly on the day.
Regards
Peter Mc (alias Pat)
