The Sea Eels conducted their annual championship at Coalcliff Rock Pool on 11 September 2016, a spectacular day for winter swimming. A slow start to the day, we thought we were going to be down on numbers with some pre-season surf club events impacting our attendance but all the regular members and a host of trophy hunters made up the numbers which resulted in some enjoyable competition.

The Slippery Eel event was between the 4 club members gaining 100% Attendance, Dawn Marshall (Open), Ian Van Zyl (Open), Anne Woodward (Open) and Barry McGuinness. With the winner for the 2nd year in a row Ian Van Zyl.

Club Member of the Year was awarded to Stephanie McGuinness for her behind the scenes work for the club and her ongoing efforts to have female swimmers included in the South Coast Wimter Swimming Championships. Well done Steph.

Sea Eels President - Peter McDonald thanked all the members for their involvement in the club and expressed his admiration for their generoursity to the club and major charity CRAM House. The weekly raffles and Sea Eels Joker Poker were very well supported by all. He looks forward to another successful Aussies Campaign and the 2017 Season.
