Welcome back to another action-packed season of nippers at Helensburgh–Stanwell Park SLSC for 2024/25. We are very excited about the upcoming season and can’t wait for the kids to get back on the beach and have some fun.
A warm welcome to all our new families joining for the first time. We hope the start of your Surf Life Saving Club experience is a positive one and that your whole family can come down and enjoy the facilities of our great club. We have a wonderful family environment and would love to see you all enjoying the Surf Club atmosphere and take the opportunity to meet some families who wish to support their children and build confidence at the beach.
Our Club is supported by a wonderful group of volunteers, who put their time and effort into coaching and supporting our children. We value all the support and help we can get from parents involved within the club. If you wish to assist but are unsure what you can do to help, please come and have a chat with us. I’m sure you will find it a rewarding experience.
We hope we all have a great season 2024/25 and hope to see you all on the beach.
Junior Activities Committee (JAC)
G'day and welcome to Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Surf Club. 'The Park' has a strong and proud history dating back to 1908 when the club was one of the first eight surf life saving clubs worldwide. Our Junior Section, the “Seagulls” was formed in 1958. Junior activities and development of our Junior members is an important part of our Club and one that overall has been extremely beneficial to the individual and community alike.
The club is located in a fantastic location within a fantastic community. This community spreads far and wide and the club prides itself in being part of this community with a focus on family and mates.
Volunteering is the very foundation of Surf Lifesaving so please feel free to become involved. Our Club, like other surf clubs throughout Australia, has something for everyone regardless of age or swimming ability.
This includes -
- beach patrols/water safety as a Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate holder
- assisting beach patrols as a holder of awards such as First Aid, Resuscitation or Radio Operator.
- educating, training and assessing our members for SLSA awards
- surf sports coach at Club level, or an official at inter-club carnivals
- helping out with point score such as a water safety officer, a beach marshal or an official at inter-Club carnivals
- helping out with fund raising or administration of the club
The Junior Activities Committee are an outstanding bunch of legends who guide and support the many volunteers on the beach in the form of Age Managers and Coaches as well as the Water Safety Team and Surf Coaches. Please feel free to approach Justin or any other member of the JAC if you would like to help in any way.
Nippers is not just about the beach and the ocean. We have a wonderful bunch of families here at The Park and we enjoy non-surf related events like The Nippers Family Movie Night, Friday Nights at the Club and other activities in conjunction with our friends in other volunteer organisations such as the RFS.
By becoming a member of the HSPSLSC I welcome you to this community-based club and look forward to seeing you on the beach, out on the water, next to the barbie or in the club with a cold refreshment.
Cheers
Lee Bailey
Club President
