This Code of Conduct outlines the behaviour expected of, and by, Members and persons involved in, and interactions between, all such persons in the Surf Lifesaving community. SLSNSW Code of Conduct can be downloaded HERE

AGE MANAGER’S CODE 

  • Make sure opportunity for sports participation is available for all children. 
  • Teach children that rules are for their safety and should not be broken.
  • Encourage and reward children equally. 
  • Ask children's opinion on planning and evaluation of activities. 
  • Children play for fun. Don't take the fun out of sport by yelling if they make a mistake. Encourage playing for the fun of it, not for the winning. 
  • Ensure children's sport does not become spectator entertainment. 
  • Always be a good sport. 
  • Always ensure adequate supervision by qualified people.

PARTICIPANT’S CODE 

  • Compete to enjoy the sport. 
  • Follow the rules. 
  • Bad sportsmanship and inappropriate behaviour will be dealt with accordingly.
  • Control your temper and be a good sport. 
  • Respect the official’s decisions. Your Age Manager can ask necessary questions. 
  • Treat other competitors as you like to be treated. 
  • Remember it is your aim to have fun and improve your ability. 
  • Listen to your Age Manager, team and mates.

PARENT’S CODE 

  • Do not make an unwilling child participate in a sport. 
  • Children are involved in sport for their enjoyment, not yours. 
  • Encourage children to play by the rules. 
  • Encourage the effort being as important as the result. 
  • Work towards improving skills and sportsmanship. 
  • Recognise and encourage good play or efforts. 
  • Do not publicly question an official's decision. 
  • Recognise the efforts of volunteer coaches

SPECTATOR’S CODE 

  • Children compete for fun not for your entertainment or satisfaction. 
  • Do not discourage participants at any time. 
  • Encourage and reward good performance by all participants 
  • Do not encourage violence. 
  • Do not use bad language or yell at the participants, coaches or officials. 
  • You must respect the official’s decision at all times.
