2012/2013 - NSW Open Championships - "The Park" Cleans Up

Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club has come away from the 2012/2013 NSW Open Surf Life Saving Championship bettering any result in living memory.

"The Park" finished in 10th position overall in the club pointscore, the highest rank club south of the Cronulla beaches, and edging the strong Illawarra and South Coast clubs Bulli and Warrilla-Barrick Point out of the Top 10. A truely awesome result.

Our all-conquering beach team put on a display rarely seen at a NSW Championships over the weekend. Taking home 8 GOLD medals, 4 SILVER medals and 3 BRONZE medals, they further cemented themselves as the #1 beach team in the State.
 
Congratulations to our individual NSW State Champions Blake Drysdale, Laura Humphries, Laura Shorter, Daniel McKellar and Katie Mott and to individual medalists Tom Dewey, Tristan Sailor, Cameron Baillie and Chris Doran.
 
Our beachies banded together to dominate the relay events also. We made history by being the first Illawarra club to ever win the Open Male and Open Female Relay double. A huge achievement by these eight competitors. We added another GOLD in the U/19 Male Beach Relay and two BRONZE medals in the U/19 Female Beach Relay and U/15 Male Beach Relay.
The boaties continued their success at state level with the U/19 Mens Boat Crew claiming a NSW Championship, great effort Nial Carpenter, Chris Doran, Toby Lea, Mitch Baillie and Mark "Bluey" Lea (Sweep).

The Park was all anybody could talk about on the weekend.
