25+ club members and their families headed down to Lake Tabourie on the NSW South Coast over the weekend of 09 - 11 September 2016.

An Ed White initiative to get in some pre-season training in the IRB, Surf Boat, Board Paddling, some general fitness and club bonding.

Most people arrived on Friday afternoon, althought some made a very late entrance not helped by traffic problems in Engadine. Everyone enjoyed a BBQ dinner and a few quiet drinks in the evening.

Saturday morning the "boaties" were up early for a session on the river, while other jumped on their SUP's and racing boards and headed up the river.

With the club in desperate need of new IRB Drivers and Crew, a number of members got their first taste of driving and crew in a nice little surf.

In between organised activities members jumped on their surf boards for a few waves.

Chief Training Officer - Bobo White continued the IRB theme and organised a Theory session for the IRB drivers and crew in training.

Saturday ended with members watching the footy while others enjoyed a bomfire on the beach.

It was back in the boat on Sunday morning as the new crews experienced some good little waves off the beach, before packing up and heading home.

Many thanks to the Andrews, Reilly, Curkoski, Manley, White, McDonald, Lea and Thomson families for making the trip down, as well as Connie Wood, Nic Lowe and Monique Lehane. A big thanks to Ben Andrews, Ed White and Nic Lowe for towing the surf boats, IRB's and boards down.

It was the first time the club has ran a pre-season weekend away, and while the numbers were small it is a good start to what could easily become a tradition. Unfortunately with so many competing events on at this time of year it is going to be a challenge getting all members to turn up. There were many members competing in the finals of their winter sports over the weekend, and congratulations to all of those who made the finals and those who brought home a trophy, it is great knowing you are all using the off-season to keep fit for summer.

Planning will be underway soon for the 2017/2018 Club Getaway....more details when available.
