Congratulations to the club's latest crop of Surf Resuce Certificate (SRC) Holders and new Life Savers, these U/14's have been together through most of their time as nippers and are the last remaining members from this age group that has seen more than 50 members in the last 9 years.

Trained by the club's SRC Trainer - Peter McDonald, who has trained the club's SRC's for about 20 years, he says each year is better than the last every year but they are all great young adults. He takes the time to teach them to be life savers, and not just pass the award. Some of them are naturally gifted in the water, others know the training manual back to front but they are aspiring to be life savers.

For the SRC, the aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. Candidates build on what they have learnt during Education Sessions at Nippers, get onto the Rescue Boards and gain and an understanding of how a patrol works.

They were all presented with their Tradies Helensburgh Patrol Uniform and introduced to their fellow Nippers on Sunday, 27 November 2016. Each of the SRC holders will be allocated to a patrol, with their first patrol on 04 December 2016.

Well done to SRC Trainer Peter McDonald, Max Walker, Isaac Pietrzak, Jack Bridges, Lachlan McDonald, Karl Gibbs and Taya Nye. Nathan Fuller also completed the award but was unable to attend.
