After a long search and a whole season without a club captain, relatively new member Anthony Rooskie has volunteered to take on the role.

Anthony may be new to the club, but has been involved in Surf Life Saving since he gained his Bronze Medallion at Warrilla-Barrack Point SLSC in 1990. As a Junior Anthony was a boat rower and he continued that for a number of years until joining the ARMY, unfortunately he dropped out of life saving for his army life.

Anthony and his family have settled in Stanwell Park, and in 2016 he joined Helensburgh-Stanwell Park SLSC and with the assistance of the club Education Team was able to upgrade his Bronze Medallion to current standards. Both of Anthony's daughters are Nippers. He is the Captain of Patrol 6, has been an Age Manager and this season apart from his new role as Club Captain will be focusing on supporting the club Water Safety Team for Nippers.

He works as a teacher supporting kids who are struggling in mainstream school settings.

Anthony holds the following SLSA Awards,

  • Bronze Medallion (Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue)
  • IRB Crew Certificate
  • Silver Medallion IRB Driver
  • Advanced Resuscitation Techniques [AID]
  • Junior Activities Age Manager

Anthony is also part of the club's Emergency Callout Team.

A massive thanks to Anthony for stepping into this role, he will be a tremendous asset to the club.
