Surf Life Saving Australia has announced that the rescue performed by Patrol 3 on Sunday, 6 November 2016 of a stricken paraglider at the south end of the beach has been recognised as the National Rescue of the Month for November 2016.

Lochleigh Thomson, Nick Lowe and Ed White have been invited to Parliment House, Canberra for the formal presentation of the Award.
