The 2014 Stanwell Scramble is back and bigger then ever! The beautiful Stanwell Park beach is the perfect location for a test of grit, endurance and speed. Even if you are only a casual runner, there is no better way to spend your Sunday morning than participating in a unique and fun event with all proceeds supporting the Helensburgh Stanwell Park Boat Section.Come down and test your endurance and fitness in the 2km or 6km events, or if you think you're quick across the sand - how about the 75m Sprint Skins event? There will be 4 age divisions for male and female competitors: - Masters (40 years and over) - Opens (18 years - 39 years) - U/18's - Juniors (14 years and under) The entry costs are as follows...: $25 for entry into one of endurance events - 18 years and over $15 for entry into one of the endurance events - Under 18 years * $10 - Sprint Skins • Please note: Endurance entry and payment does not include entry in the Skins event You can register and pay on the day with cash or EFTPOS The Endurance events will race from 8am, with the Skins event to follow. Please arrive by 7.30am at the surf club to receive your competitor number and instructions. BBQ and drinks will be available and there will be prizes for the winners in each division!! Please like our page “Stanwell Scramble” on facebook to keep up to date with any notifications For people unsure what a skins event is:A Skins event is an exciting series of races that operate on a knockout basis, with the two remaining sprinters from racing each other head to head in the final race. Even if you chose not to enter the Skins event, please take the time to watch as this is a highly exciting series of races, where tactics play a big part.The event is broken down into male and female races for each division (depending on entry numbers) The important points of the Skins event are as follows:- • There is a max of 10 females and 10 males allowed to race in each division • Each skins race is raced over 75m soft sand • At the finish of each race, the slowest runner is eliminated • If there is a dead heat for last place, then all runners remain in the race, but the two slowest runners from the next race are eliminated. • Races are run consecutively on exactly 2 minutes intervals, with the runners neding to run and be back to start the next race within the two minutes.
