The surf club has decided to purchased a near new 2012 model surfboat from Bungan Beach SLSC for $20,000. Purchase includes a boat cover, rowlocks and 2 x batteries for the pumps.

The club was due to buy a brand new surfboat from our current manufacturer Clymer which would have cost approximately $29,000. This purchase is to take advantage of a rare opportunity for significant cost savings to the tune of $9,000, as surfboats in such great condition and of such young age do not come up all that often. The purchase helps to provide our boaties with the opportunity to continue their great form on the water as no doubt the news of a new boat will spur them onto to higher levels in training and competition. The boat also will promote enthusiasm to maintain and expand our membership through the boatie fraternity.

Funding for the boat will come from our major sponsor Peabody, other sponsors related to Peabody’s operations and from the sale of one of the other surfboat the club currently owns. As this time of year generally coincides with a time of reduced cash flow for the club, the Executive Committee authorised the use of funds from a term deposit after it matures in mid-June. The funds will be returned to the term deposit as the sponsorship and asset sale funds become available.
