Club Information Survey

Surf Life Saving NSW would like to hear from you. We are in the process of improving our communication to members and would like your opinion on information you receive from SLSNSW, Branch and Club. The survey will take you less than five minutes and would greatly help us streamline information that is sent to members.

Lifesaving Exchange Program

Congratulations to the surf lifesavers who have been chosen to be part of the Surf Life Saving NSW Lifesaving Exchange Program this weekend. All the best for your time away in either the Far North Coast or Sydney Branch. Remember to #patroldifferently and #mysurflife when posting photos to social media.

Subsidised Intensive Training Officer courses

Thanks to a grant provided by the Emergency Volunteer Support Scheme (EVSS), Surf Life Saving NSW will be working with Branch Facilitators to host three two-day Intensive Training Officer courses in March-April 2016. These courses will be an ideal opportunity for members with little-to-no training or education experience to gain some highly transferable skills and take their first steps into the Training Officer role within their Club. Spaces are limited, so book your place soon! Register your interest before 31st January 2016.

Summer of Surf Round 6

Freshwater will host the sixth round of the Summer of Surf this Sunday with Newport SLSC currently on top of the overall clubs point score while Manly LSC and Redhead SLSC are coming sixth and eighth respectively. Meanwhile, in the ironperson Georgia Miller (Newport SLSC) is on top and Hayden Allum (Wanda SLSC) is placed second. Good luck to all competitors!

Alzheimer’s Memory Walk and Jog

Alzheimer’s Australia are searching for event volunteers to support their Memory Walk and Jog. Volunteering is a great way to be a part of this exciting and rapidly growing event. You will meet new people, bond with old friends plus play a vital role in raising much needed funds for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW. 2015 Annual Information Statement due to the ACNC

The deadline for the 2015 Annual Information Statement is fast approaching - it is due by 31 January 2016 for many charities. Don't delay - if your SLSC is due to submit by 31 January 2016, but has not yet done so, get online and submit soon. In preparing to submit, check the guidance and use the worksheet available on the ACNC website.

Be Beach Safe This Australia Day

Australia Day is one of the busiest days of the year for volunteer surf lifesavers who have a simple message for those heading to the beach or coast to celebrate – please swim between the red and yellow flags.

Bulli Surf Lifesavers Win State Award

The courageous efforts by a patrol team from Bulli SLSC to rescue six swimmers who had been dragged 100 metres out to sea last month have seen the club win the NSW Rescue of the Month.

Brunswick Clubbie To Patrol 129 Beaches

An idea that arose from attending the 2014/15 Youth Opportunity Makers Workshop has inspired Brunswick SLSC surf lifesaver, Sam Atkins, to patrol at every NSW Surf Life Saving Club.

Afghan Community Visit Woonona SLSC

They hail from a country more famous for its deserts than its oceans, and many were making their first visit to a beach, but the members of Sydney’s Afghan community who took to the water under the watchful eyes of Woonona lifesavers on Saturday handled it with aplomb.

As one of the biggest events on the surf sports calendar, the 2016 Stramit NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships will be held in February 2016. Kempsey Shire Council and South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club will together host the event.

Newport will be host to round 8 of the Summer of Surf, and is sure to put on a show once again. The athletes will have to draw on all of their skills to beat the tricky conditions and each other.

The Malabar Magic raises vital funds for Rainbow Club Australia, a registered non-profit charity that helps children with disabilities learn to swim and be safe in the water.

Lifesaving Officer (Volunteer Support)

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with knowledge and experience of Surf Life Saving operations to engage our key members and support a cohesive, strong and skilled SurfCom team. The Lifesaving Officer will be responsible for a variety of areas such as maintaining rosters, organising training and developing reports for local emergency management meetings.
