SurfLIFE Issue 32

The latest issue will be available at your local surf club next week and can be read online via our website. In this SurfLIFE we feature the release of the Economic Value of Lifesavers in the NSW Community report and how for every dollar that is invested in Surf Life Saving the community receives a return of 46 dollars.

We review the summer that was for our volunteer lifesavers, provide an update on season statistics as well as highlight some of the major incidents involving our members.

Our surf sport athletes ended a successful summer of competition on a high at The Australian Championships and we highlight some of their achievements.

Community Shark Forum – Lennox Head

The Department of Primary Industries are holding a Community Shark Forum on Tuesday, 28 June at 1 Mackney Lane, Park Lane Theatre, Lennox Community Centre.

Barry Bruce from CSIRO will be in attendance from Hobart to co-present the latest White Shark research with our shark biologist, Vic Peddemors and we will provide an overall update about the Shark Management Strategy to the wider community. Call Kim on 0437 075 710 for more information.

Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games

The 16th Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games is to be held on the Sunshine Coast from 8 – 15th October 2016. Visit their website provides you with information on the 50+ sports being offered.

Track & Field is running over two days at the University of Sunshine Coast, 90 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs on Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th October. Register here.

Rising Drowning Toll Prompts Safety Plea

After two rock fishing deaths in the last week alone, and the highest NSW coastal drowning toll in five years, Surf Life Saving, Police, and Marine Rescue NSW are pleading with the public to be vigilant when near the water.

Rock Fisherman Dies At Whale Beach
