The Club Constitution was last revised in 1991, with some minor amendments in 1997 and 2009. As a result of changes to Government legislation for incorporated associations in 2016, our Constitution and By-Laws have been revised to bring them into line with these changes.
The major change is to streamline the Club management structure, with a slightly larger Executive Committee and elimination of the Management Committee. Other changes will have very little impact on how we operate today.
On 8 May 2017, an email was sent to all Club members advising that updating of the Constitution was in progress. Members were encouraged to review the draft documents, and to email the Club Secretary by 22 May 2017 if they had any concerns or required additional information.
Whilst some members downloaded the draft documents, only two members responded and their suggestions have now been included in the draft documents.
A further opportunity is available until Sunday 18 June 2017 for members to ask questions or raise concerns. After that date, the documents will be referred as is, to the Annual General Meeting for adoption.
The Committee recommends that Members endorse the updated Constitution and By-Laws at the Annual General Meeting. Once endorsed, it is intended the new Constitution will become effective from that time."
