We'll our dedicated boaties have been training for a couple of months now and have been training the house down. Unfortunately we only have the one crew at present, that being the U19 men's crew, known at the carnivals as the HSP Westfund Pasties (Drew Walsh, Hamilton Reilly, Matt Anger & Dakota Curkoski with Ed White as sweep)After a successful first season, the boys kicked of this season at Bulli on Saturday 20th October with the first round of the Warilla Bowls South Coast Rowers Championship. They were a bit rusty (as were the other crews) but managed to finish 2nd in all 3 rounds, and then ran a very close second in the final being pipped on the line by North Cronulla. Their next carnival will be the Mollymook Classic on Saturday 3rd November, so with their continuing training schedule in full swing we look forward to more strong results.
As many are aware, we received a very generous sponsorship this year from Westfund Health Insurance to help with the purchase of a new Clymer surf boat. As part of the sponsorship, there are options open to our club to gain further sponsorship dependant on how many members purchase a Health Insurance policy with Westfund. The magic number we have to reach to unlock this option is 15 policies. At the moment we have had 8 members sign up with Westfund, leaving only 7 more to reach the 15. If you have been looking to change health funds, would think of changing your health fund to support our boaties, or you need to get Health insurance for the first time, contact Westfund by clicking on the link on our webpage and request a obligation free quote. Please mention to Westfund that you are a member or Helensburgh Stanwell Park SLSC to be added to the tally.
In regards to the new surf boat, it should be under construction as we speak. The hopeful delivery date will be early to mid December, with a christening (fingers crossed) just before Christmas. Watch this space for more information.
The boat section would like to thank their new sponsor for this season Westfund Health Insurance, for believing in what we are trying to accomplish, and what we as a surf club stand for. Welcome on board.
