BECOME A COASTAL AMBASSADOR - LAST CHANCE
Members of surf life saving clubs in NSW are invited to attend this year’s Coastal Ambassadors free weekend workshop - if you have an interest in increasing your knowledge of our marine environment and have a desire to implement change within your own surf club. Attendees will be provided with free accommodation at Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park, Narrabeen for Friday and Saturday night (12-14 October 2012), all meals are included and some travel costs will be provided – conditions apply. 2012 ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS HEADS TO HUNTER
The annual early season Endurance Championships will head to Swansea Belmont SLSC this year with the event to be held on Sunday 28 October. The club has a proud history of hosting major Surf Life Saving events in NSW including hosting the State Championships from 2008 to 2010. Visit the SLSNSW website in the coming weeks for details on how to enter and event timetables.

SURF CLUB FACILITY GRANTS - OPEN FRIDAY 31 AUGUST
The Surf Club Facility Development Program is designed to assist with the funding for the development of local surf life saving clubs. The aim of this program is to increase the availability, standard and quality of surf life saving clubs in NSW for the benefit of their members and the wider community. Applications for this year’s $2million Surf Club Facility Grants will now open on Friday 31th August 2012 due to an IT glich, to compensate, the closing date will be extended for an extra week. DESIGN YOUR OWN UNIQUE CLUB COMPRESSION GARMENTS WITH THE BODY SCIENCE CLUB DESIGN PROGRAM

STORM SURFERS 3D
One of the most amazing big wave documentaries you'll ever see, Storm Surfers 3D, is touring Australia during August and September, with one night only screenings. Stars of the PG rated movie, surf legends Tom Carroll and Ross Clarke Jones will be there to watch the movie with you and answer questions. The producers have extended members of Surf Life Saving a special welcome and are offering you the chance to win 'the ultimate Storm Surfers pack'. Click here to enter the competition. To find out times and dates Storm Surfers 3D will be screening at a cinema near you click here

GRANTS NOW OPEN - Participation and Facility Program (PFP)
Sport and Recreation’s Participation and Facility grants program is now open. This grant program will cover both participation projects and Facility Development Projects. Grants are capped at $10,000 for participation projects and $50,000 for facility projects. For more information click here. Applications close 3 September 2012.

Surf Life Saving NSW is committed to supporting our members in the event they suffer an unfortunate injury or illness while undertaking an authorised Surf Life Saving activity. To make it easier to protect the health and wellbeing of our members, we have developed a fact sheet and revised the Workers Compensation Claim and Notification of Injury forms. BEACH TO BUSH 2012 - CALL FOR PRESENTERS
It's Beach to Bush time again and we are inviting applications from interested members to present the program to our rural young Australians. The 2012 tour runs from Monday 5 November to Friday 9 November. You will also need to allow additional travel time to reach your destination. Schools from as far and wide as Coleambally, Woodenbong and Kyogle are just a few of the many we will tour. Visit our capital, its museums and galleries, pop into the wineries of the Riverina, sample the cafes of the Blue Mountains or walk the walks – much to see and do in your spare time! If you would like a change of scenery, and have a flair communicating with primary aged children, then click here to complete the application form and return it to SLSNSW by 31 August 2012. All expenses will be reimbursed, including a vehicle allowance.

DONATION OF OLD SERVICEABLE IRB AND MOTOR FOR NEW NIPPER CLUB
Kioloa community group have decided to start a stand-alone Nipper club associated with Mollymook SLSC. The nippers will run at Kioloa beach some 30 km from Mollymook. The branch is allocating substantial funds and gear to get the group up and running with boards and tubes etc however they still need an IRB to hold the events. This is a big venture and the community is a very isolated section of the South Coast. Mollymook is already stretched with the club providing gear and patrolling three beaches over the summer holiday period. SECOND ROUND OF FUNDING FOR THE FOUNDATION FOR RURAL AND REGIONAL RENEWAL (FRRR) SMALL GRANTS FOR SMALL COMMUNITIES PROGRAM - NOW OPEN 
Small Grants for Small Communities is open once again. Grants will be made in amounts up to $5,000 that offer clear public benefit for communities with populations of 10,000 or less. Eligible applications will live in small rural and remote locations in Australia contributing to their development in:

  • Social and community welfare
  • Economic and environmental health
  • Education
  • Cultural areas
