Nomination for Life Membership of Surf Life Saving New South Wales

SLSNSW is inviting nominations for members to be recommended for election to Life Membership of SLSNSW.

To be considered for Life Membership, a nominee must have rendered distinguished voluntary service to SLSNSW for a period of at least 20 years, with the following condition being applied; For service to be considered as distinguished, it must be sustained and a conspicuous contribution. SLSNSW is seeking SurfCom Operators for the 2016/17 season at the State Operations Centre to provide support to 228 Surf Life Saving Clubs, Support Operations and Lifeguard services.
As a member of the team, you will be involved in the following: Providing links to emergency services, coordinating SLS response to incidents, liaising with local government and data collection and analysis of SLS resources.

2016 NSW Board Riding Championships

The latest information regarding next weekend's NSW Board Riding Championships has been published online at www.surflifesaving.com.au/boardriding.com. These documents include the final event information, competition draws, timetables and daily schedules. Best of luck to all competitors with their final preprations.

Ask Australian Charities and not-for-profits Commission

Beginning later this month, the ACNC will be hosting 26 free information session for charities. Some sessions are nearly at capacity, so don't miss out, book your place now! Click here for more information and to register.

From August, the ACNC will be visiting over 25 regional and metropolitan locations in Australia to talk to charities. The Ask ACNC sessions will provide charities the opportunity to hear directly from one of the ACNC’s Commissioners. The sessions include an update on the work of the ACNC, issues facing the sector and how to meet your ACNC obligations, including the Annual Information Statement. Charities will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the Commissioners during the Q&A session.

Psychological Well-Being of Surf Life Saving Members

Research suggests that there is a link between volunteering and mental health. While studies have examined community organisations across Australia and internationally, the unique and strong surf life-saving movement on our home turf has not yet been investigated.

The Wellbeing Survey Package for Surf Life-Saving Volunteer Members 2016 is open to those SLSNSW members who are over 18 years of age, can spare 15-20 minutes and would like to contribute to the understandings of volunteering and its impact on psychological wellbeing. The Survey will be open until 31st October 2016. Please click here to start the survey, and please know that your contribution is anonymous and greatly appreciated.

Rescue Water Craft Operations Review

Surf Life Saving New South Wales is commencing a review of Rescue Water Craft (RWC) services run by Branches in NSW.

The Branch Directors of Lifesaving and Education discussed the RWC structure at the Annual Directors Combined Portfolio Conference in May 2016 and endorsed a review to take place. This is the first review of its type for sometime.
