On Sunday, 14 July 2013 Club Member Don Burke was elected as the next Life Member of Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club.

Don has been a member of the club since 1982, gaining his Bronze Medallion, IRB Crew and IRB Drivers Certificate early in his time at the club. He competed with great success on the beach and in IRB's.

He has been a Patrol Captain, Club Captain and Vice-president as well as serving on a number of club committees. He is a great social member of the club and fund-raiser organising and conducting many very successful events in recent year.

Don has taken to rowing surf boats in the past 10 years or so competing as a veteran, which has lead him to raise funds to purchase 7 surf boats for the club.

He has also taken an interest in the Junior side of the club as his children have began progressing thru Nippers. Most pointscore days you will see him in his "South Sydney" apron sweating over the BBQ or in the kitchen.
